The most relevant and important publications on cinema and media and a comprehensive archive. The collection is continuously updated with books and periodicals on contemporary processes in film and media culture.
The development of the unique archive of film and media began in 2006, when Jonas Mekas’s books stored at the Anthology Film Archives in New York were transferred to Lithuania. In 2009, the cinematheque collection was supplemented by film critic Saulius Macaitis’s collection of several thousand VHS tapes, periodicals and books, as well as his personal archive of photographs. In 2012-2014, the archive was expanded with personal book and film collections of film directors Almantas Grikevičius and Henrikas Šablevičius. The collection also includes films and publications donated by Izolda Keidošiūtė, Živilė Pipinytė, Neringa Kažukauskaitė, Rimvydas Leipus, Romas Zabarauskas, “Scanorama” Film Festival, Lithuanian Cinematographers’ Union and Goethe Institute in Lithuania, among others.
